Indeed there was a problem some time ago - you should delete and re-upload them.

No, please don't do that.

I'll reprocess them for you. Have patience ;)

attator 4 iStockaudio: noob question

/heyas - noob question please

so i finally managed to get bite-size chunks of silent vids for upload. They're HDsize, 30fps, biggest size about 150mb, but they're already compressed .mov files out of the camera (mpeg-4 according to canon website, file info says h.264). must they really be re-compressed using photo jpeg? if so what's the most efficient way of doing this if i don't need to do any editing/compositing/etc, just straight-forward recompressing?

thanks!

oh and i only have imovie and final cut express

eta: eh, wrong forum, someone please move to istockvideo please :)

I know one particular question I had was on the images used... is there a set number you need to start with? And I assume all images have to come from istock?

The only rule about number is that you can't start with just a single image. However you get extra points for difficulty apparently, so I guess the more elements you combine well the better. Images don't have to come from istock, but do have to comply with istock rules regarding logos, copyright etc.

Unfortunately its underexposed and noisy, there's posterisation in some of the green leaves, and the background distracts from the main subject.

Rather strange that the main flower is the only object with water drops, as if you've intentionally sprayed water on that one but not on any of the others.

emyerson 15 Keywording: Can I please re-edit two of my removed tags?

As I see it, in terms of keywords, this is a skull, and not a head. What I mean is, put yourself in the shoes of a customer. You come to iStock and search for "Human Head". Are you looking for images of heads or skulls? Odds are you're looking for heads. If you wanted skull pictures, wouldn't you have just searched for skull?

I'll defer this issue to our friends Keywords and Ducksandwich, who own the wiki processes. They may have some other insight into the matter.

TexPhoto 16 Photography: faster lens

They charge what they can get away with? Those B@stards! Of course they do. These companies are in business to make money. What do the companies you work for try to do? Give money away?

Of all the reasons listed above the only one I see missing is that of course bigger faster lenses sell a while lot less than their smaller brothers. A nikon rep told me the 50mm f1.8 outsells the f1.4 by 10-1. Of course it's much cheaper to make something when you make a lot more of them. The 50mm f1.2 manual focus is also still available, and costs way more than the f1.4. Surprise, they sell only a few 100 a year.

skdesigns 17 Illustration: Vector Challenge: January

/Wow, Diane, what a remarkable difference! I really like your improvements - the gradients and consistent lighting do indeed change the level of this illustration.

I also absolutely love hearing your critique about your first one and reading about your improvement. Great learning tool for me. Thanks for telling about it all like you did.

I've only been a vector contributor since the end of November, but I'm re-working some files from my first two sets of uploads. "Old" for my own work accepted here but not very old compared to most everyone else here!

Looking forward to seeing more of everyone's before and after. Fun to see!

(edited to comment about how much I like the NEW version!)

Push in the joystick, keep moving the joystick "down" to scroll through the options. Once you see "EXP", then push the joystick "up" to select it. You'll see a blue compensation bar appear in the top left corner, you can move left or right with the joystick as desired, with your changes reflected right away on the LCD. Press the joystick IN to lock exposure, the compensation bar will turn white and the camera will fix the exposure and aperture exactly where it was when you locked it, even as light conditions change in the shot.

jimsdslr 20 Software: Best approach and settings,Camera, post processing workflow

Yes thanks for your replies and i understand that many other factors affect the final image and each image has to be looked, treated differently depending on these factors. Also that some problems can be seen at 100%-200% I have a lot to learn in detecting these problems and fixing them, But I am trying to find the best approach to avoid or minimise exagerating any of these from a processing point of view as these can have an effect on the image, like most people would agree on using raw verus jpeg for best quality, So im trying to work out whether to sharpen before converting to 8bit or after when saving final in image, to crop before opening into photoshop or in adobe raw, to crop before noise reduction, bicubic smoother sharper... and other processes, bacially the best workflow from use of software. Thanks :)
